Two can play the supermarket game.
I placed an order for Wednesday teatime. Came to do the final fiddle and change to see that all the good offers on things I wanted to order ended on Monday. Delete that order then as I couldn't change the slot backwards.
I managed to get a latish but not middle of the night order at a delivery price I could accept tomorrow. And that's the saving even with something added.
There are a lot of vegan things that don't come from independent shops locally and if they do the markup is shocking (well to me).
We are sadly lacking in the independent butcher, baker and greengrocer. Yes there's farmers' market locally but they don't deal in vegan products. Think it happens every two weeks most of the year allowing for festive breaks such as Christmas and Easter.
And certain things were out of stock when the pickers/packers got to my order. Apparently they pick and pack from the stock room not from the public shelves (which could be even more interesting some days if I remember).
It makes life interesting to see what turns up. Is it any better going into the supermarket? Well at least you can take a list with alternatives. The village shop does its best but it's very small and dependent on beer and vapes to stay in business. And certainly not vegan friendly.
It makes me realise just how dependent I am now on shops for the provision of food.

That is odd as I see orders being picked off the shelves in both Sainsbugs and asda
Yes, I do too, but it may be a different supermarket with a different policy.
Are you vegan Florence? If you use a butchers you don't seem to be.
I use price reductions where I can. If something I use regularly and can be stored is on offer, I buy and store it. Trouble is, a lot of the offers are on things I don't buy, as I tend to buy basics and when I can, make things like biscuits and cakes.
I also check the price per kilo or whatever units for that item and buy the most economical I can.
No everyone I don't use a butcher but it's one of the gripes of the local middle aged and older folks that we no longer have one very locally. There's one in one town with a reputation for grouchy, another in another town that isn't regarded for one off purchases. Or the Farmers' Market and the supermarket. Just an observation. It's a wail of the older ones - no greengrocer, no baker (well you didn't support them so they shut).
I use our local greengrocer for some things, but although we know him fairly well, I am cautious about some things as he is inclined to keep them too long. I have been able to get some veg at the farm shop butcher, and I know their supplier is local. Otherwise, another farm shop we sometimes use or the supermarket.
What sort of milk do you use Florence? I don't use vegan milk, but if I did, I would use oat as that seems to be the least damaging.
