Long ago there used to be a forum dedicated to the art of self sufficient. It died for various reasons technical, management, etc. Anyway I miss it.

There's a lack of sensible advice on self sufficiency around, especially in 'tinternet. The most common is get an allotment - which most often has disastrous results due to lack of time, lack of knowledge and using the site to store what should go to the tip. (Ex committee member )

There's a lack of advice on economical cooking your own, budgeting for your food and managing your store cupboard. There's no obvious advice on basic repair of clothes, what you can manage round the house before calling in the relevant trade or when to do so.

Missing the off grid folks who were handy for all sorts of self sufficient advice.

There is starting to be a bit more advice. I get things come up on Facebook, some from the council, about how to reuse, reduce waste and takes you to some places where you can get recipes. There are a number of books on the subject too, some of which can be found in the better charity book shops.

It seems forums aren't as popular as they were, so the place to go is other social media. I only do FB, so don't know what the other sites do.

Forums may not be popular, but if you want a referable resource , a forum is the way to go.

If we are missing the information on here, what about writing an article or so on this subject? Links to it can always be put in other places

It was a great forum. But as we know they are hard to keep going.

That would be limiting as where I was there were others who had different skills and shared them. It's not just writing an article, it's others with different, everyday knowledge who share their knowledge and skills. As Jema said. it was a great forum.

Right let me start some self sufficientish off. I'm thinking living out of the stare cupboards for a month and no new clothes for a year. Just things I can do off the top of my head. I'll start topics and you can join me.
