Own up to having any of these:
1. Unused empty jam jars and containers
2. Plastic bags stuffed in other plastic bags
3. Random charging cables for things you no longer own (yep need to see neighbour to get these to the tip)
4. The box a gadget came in
5. Left over paint
6. Spare buttons from clothes that disappeared a long time ago (went with a sewing box I gave away via Facebook)
7. Keys with no known lock
8. A drawer full of nuts, screws and mystery hardware (local family cleared out more than one drawer when moving house some years back)
9. Expired coupons
10 User manuals that no one reads
11 Gift bags and scraps of wrapping paper
12 Old phones for "backup" (mine isn't even fit for that and needs to go to tip)
13 Spare parts from assembled furniture
14 Half used note books (learned a lot about that when took over from the previous allotment secretary - 99% of the ten bin bags should have been electronic and yes she had a computer; two of us put that experience to good use in other volunteering and work)
15 Left over pieces of wood, wire, cardboard that might come in useful

Probably most of that. Having a button box was usual when I was a child, and it is very useful for the odd button needed for something. Similarly, nuts, bolts and assorted odd screws are often needed. Odd bits of wood usually have a use, and I use up half used notebooks for taking minutes and making notes.

Grandma's button box was a source of entertainment!!
I've just asked the next door neighbour please nicely to take away my lots of cables and the derelict phone next time she goes to the tip. She thinks probably the weekend as she's having a bit of a clear out herself.
Why is the scale knackered? Took out the batteries which wouldn't go back in and I don't have anything suitable to replace. I said something about ... that for a game of soldiers.
We have to get rid of a duvet cover and pillow cases as the material near the seams has had it. The stuff in the middle looks all right, but can't think of anything to use it for.
